Elsa Laula Renberg was a champion and a guide for the Sami people. She fought for Sami rights all her life. She started the first Sami association and organized the first nationwide meeting in Trondheim, Norway on February 6, 1917.
As a background to why we celebrate the Sami national day on February 6 today.
